Dental Fillings
At Ann M. Schreiber, DDS, PC, we use dental fillings to restore teeth affected by cavities, cracks, or breaks. Fillings can be made from a variety of materials, including gold, porcelain, and silver amalgam, but the most common option today is composite resin. Composite fillings are tooth-colored, allowing them to blend seamlessly with your natural smile.
Tooth-colored fillings require a few extra steps. The material is applied in layers, and each layer is hardened with a special curing light to create a strong, natural-looking restoration.
Before placing a filling, a local anesthetic is used to numb the tooth. Our dentist carefully removes the decay with precise instruments and thoroughly cleans the area to eliminate bacteria and debris. In certain cases, a protective liner such as glass ionomer may be applied to safeguard the tooth and nerve before completing the filling. Once placed, the filling is shaped and polished to ensure a smooth, natural finish.
The length and cost of the procedure can vary depending on the size and location of the cavity. To learn more about dental fillings or to schedule an appointment, contact our office today.
